Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Annual Letter Carriers’
Food Drive is taking place nationwide on Saturday, May
10, 2008. For the past 15 years, the National
Association of Letter Carriers has collected non-perishable
food placed by neighborhood mailboxes and delivered it to a
community food bank or pantry. On Oahu, the donations
support the Hawaii Foodbank.
The NALC Food Drive is the
largest of its kind in the nation, and the Hawaii Foodbank
has been more than generous in working with our program.
This is the perfect opportunity for us to give back to the
Hawaii Foodbank.
Volunteers
are needed to sort and pack food at the Hawaii Foodbank in
Mapunapuna on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 4:00 to
10:00 pm. We could also use volunteers to complete the
sorting and packing on Monday, May 12, 2008 from
8:00 am to 12:00 noon. Beverages and a meal will be
provided each day.
To volunteer, please
contact me by email at
ronald@auw.org or by phone at 543-2249.
Kindly bring the volunteer form with you when you go
to the Foodbank. Enclosed are a volunteer application,
flyer and a map to the Foodbank.
Because of the
possibility of media coverage, we ask that you wear your
Union or Organization shirts on the day that you are
helping.
Thank you for your
continued support of the Labor’s Community Services Program
of Hawaii, the NALC, the Hawaii Foodbank and the people of
Oahu.
In Unity,
Ron Tanaka
Oahu AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison
